Hi! Tell us about yourself
I am a B2B and B2C expert who has developed and implemented marketing and public relations campaigns for

brands big and small worldwide for almost 20 years. After graduating from Barnard College, Columbia University,

my professional career started in Taipei, Taiwan, where I contributed to the growth of a high-end English-speaking

“social club” school through events, advertising, and an MTV series featuring teachers at the school, enabling it to open a second location in one year. After working at Real Simple for a few years at Time Inc. (now Meredith Dotdash) upon my return to NYC, I switched to public relations and marketing. My first big client was Bacardi Global Travel Retail Division, where I handled B2B media relations, luxury partnerships, large-scale events, retail activations in airports and duty-free stores, and advertising. Later, I moved into luxury travel PR, supporting Marriott, Preferred Hotel Group, Mustique Island, Eden Rock – St Barths, and many others.

In 2015, I started Cielo Consulting to support entrepreneurs and small-to-mid-sized businesses, focusing on People, Places, and Products. My diverse background in journalism, marketing, and public relations enables me to have a keen sense of strategy when developing communications campaigns, helping my clients’ goals and dreams become a reality.

Tell us about your business!

Cielo Consulting is a public relations and marketing firm founded in 2015, based in South Orange, NJ. Cielo (SEE-el-oh) means "sky" in Spanish. We Dream Big and want our clients to do the same. Our team has decades of agency experience launching public relations and marketing campaigns for some of the biggest brands in spirits, restaurants, hotels, and lifestyle. At Cielo, we focus on People, Places and Products, specializing in food & beverage, travel, lifestyle consumer products, health & wellness,  thought leadership, social impact and DEI.  Our niche is supporting entrepreneurs up to small-to-mid-sized businesses; clients reap the benefits of receiving support equal to a large NYC agency, but with a boutique firm that has a strong network of experts for add-on services, from website design to social media management. Cielo Consulting blends traditional PR methodologies to secure media coverage, online and print advertising, and strategic brand partnerships to drive awareness for clients nationwide and even internationally.

How long have you lived in SOMa?

Since Nov 2011, more than 10 years!

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in southern Maryland.

How many years have you been in business?

We launched in 2015, so we’ll be 10 years old in September 2025.

What excites you the most about what you do?

I love that I help my clients grow from being an unknown entity to one that is on TV and in print/online media nationwide, which helps them grow their business. I have had clients go from barely selling any products in their basement to getting requests from large retailers to carry their products. It excites me that I motivate my clients to be the name and face of their company through marketing and PR, which pushes them to do things they could have never imagined accomplishing on their own.

What are 3 things that contribute to a successful work day?

1. Remain open to outcomes–when things don't always go as planned, roll with it and pivot if need be; sometimes it is better that way and you have to be patient to see what the universe could be trying to teach you.

2. Pick up the phone. Not everything can be done over text and email, especially with respect to client relations and intercommunications with colleagues who work remotely.  In public relations, it is not easy to get media on the phone, but when we do, it always fosters a more powerful relationship that lasts years and results in great stories for clients.

3. Remember to turn off. When you are an entrepreneur, especially when you mostly work from home, it is easy to keep working into the late hours of night. Remember to create boundaries for yourself with clients and colleagues and spend quality time with family and even yourself (I love my quiet time after the kids go to bed!).

And just for fun…

What's the weirdest thing on your desk right now?

An Abundance Orgonite Pyramid Crystal with Green Aventurine, Tiger's Eye, Citrine (aka Merchant’s Stone) and Clear Quartz…yeah, I am into rocks, haha!

What's your go-to celebration meal when you hit a milestone?

A dirty martini with a salad (must have blue cheese on it) and a side of truffle fries.

Dreams, Success, Partnerships, Tenacity, Growth

Share a challenge you faced and how you overcame it.

I was diagnosed with PTSD from remembering childhood trauma 9 months into building my business–my whole world was crashing just when I thought everything was “perfect”. I refused to let my panic attacks, ongoing triggers and challenges get in the way of keeping Cielo Consulting alive, so I doubled my revenue by getting more/larger clients, which enabled me to bring on freelancers to help me on my accounts. Having the support of team members on good and bad days during those early years of PTSD management was the smartest thing I ever did! And it helped Cielo grow to what it is today.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

I cherish my Native American heritage, so the last client gift was a dreamcatcher, a trademark present for Cielo’s clients and team members. In my personal life it was souvenirs from Portugal, as we went this summer and it was amazing!
