Lauren Anne Mooney

Hi! Tell us about yourself
Hi! I help people and businesses access their bodies to relieve their minds via meditation, breathwork, sound therapy & Reiki.

I live with my husband who is a software engineer and our 2 dogs in Maplewood - I’m 41. A Cancer Sun, Scorpio Moon & Gemini Rising.

I love reality tv, traveling, jacuzzis, karaoke, danishes & potatoes: french fries, mashed potatoes, shredded hashbrowns & loaded baked potatoes to be specific, lol.

Tell us about your business!

My work is for  people who are looking to feel more tuned-in to themselves & the present moment. I help people and businesses access their bodies to relieve their minds via meditation, breathwork, sound therapy & Reiki.

Private Energy Medicine sessions are available at Soul Sprout Acupuncture in Millburn. I host monthly group sound baths, and tarot pop ups in South Orange at 3 Birds, Botanica & beyond. My work is also available via Zoom for private sessions & by request workplace wellness offerings.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Orange County, California.

How long have you lived in SOMa?

I’ve lived in SOMa since August of 2020.

How long have you been doing the work you do?

8 years

How did you find yourself doing this work?

My mom died 6 years ago now, and I think I originally thought I was getting into the work to heal my mom [from Cancer]  but you can only ever really work on yourself, and aspire to be a wayshower to others. Some of my mom’s final wisdom was about slowing down, so that reaffirmed my desire to keep doing this work.

What excites you the most about what you do?

Helping people slow down and relax by reminding them of the power of the present moment.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My friend Erica who now owns a restaurant  in Cape Cod was doing Reiki when we both lived in Brooklyn. And I had been to one sound bath at maha rose and then let go from a small agency that was about to fold - and went to work on a huge agency that I absolutely hated. I did a Reiki training at the same time my mom had been sick, quit my “regular job” and never looked back.

What are you working on right now?

Doing less, being more. And also looking forward to doing more workplace wellness.

And just for fun…

What's your superpower in your business?

Listening & remembering.

What's the weirdest thing on your desk right now?

Not sure if I personally deem it “weird” but it may be a toss up between the silk tie-dyed eye mask & the tarot cards?

What's your go-to celebration meal when you hit a milestone?

My mom’s favorite meal from the Cheesecake Factory was the miso salmon & I get it but I ask for mashed potatoes instead of the rice & if we’re celebrating, let’s definitely get banana crème cheesecake.

At the Short Hills Mall of course.

If your business had a theme song, what would it be and why?

The last song that came on in my car was “The Searcher” by Nuovo Testamento. It gives major main character energy ~ and I think the best driving songs make you feel like you’re in a movie. So why not the best business songs too?

I also make monthly playlists which I share via my newsletter & spotify

What’s your favorite ’90s jam?

I love so many ‘90s Jams, but you can find a VHS of me dancing to “Cold Hearted Snake” by Paula Abdul when I was probably about 5 or 6, so that’s definitely a formative one.
