I am a mom to 5-year-old twins. Our family lives in South Orange. I am originally from New York but lived in Boston for many years
before moving to the area in 2018.

Where is it located? No brick and mortar - I provide families with in-home services
What is it? Occupational therapy, DIRFloortime services, and parent coaching
Who is it for? Support for neurodivergent children and their caregivers
Any other helpful details? I primarily support young children, from toddlers up through mid-elementary aged

Rockland County in New York (the suburbs)

I founded Defining Development in 2022
How long have you been doing the work you do?
I have been an occupational therapist for 12 years
How did you find yourself doing this work?
I have always worked in pediatrics - schools, clinics, and hospital settings - and have always loved connecting with children
What excites you the most about what you do?
Creating safe environments for children to play and grow and helping caregivers to see their children through a strengths-based lens
What inspired you to start your own business?
I saw a big gap between the services that children were receiving and the supports that families truly needed.
What is it about you that makes you so good at what you do?
Patience, self-awareness, curiosity, playfulness
What 4 items are essential for you to do the work you do?
I almost always keep pop tubes, dry erase boards, bubbles, and balloons on hand

My business would be yellow - yellow is such a playful and bright color, and the way that I connect with children is through play
